- Amadoo's founder had a clear product vision: a modern platform that could manage nurseries end-to-end, multiple tenants, four distinct user types (admins, managers, practitioners, parents), payments, reporting, and AI-assisted functionality, all from launch.

- The challenge wasn't the vision. It was building it as a secure, scalable, multi-tenant SaaS without spending two years on the foundation.

- Amadoo progressed from concept to a fully functioning platform capable of supporting nurseries through a single system. The technical foundation is built to scale: multi-tenant from the schema up, secured at the data layer, and ready for the next phase of growth.
The build
What we designed and built.
Umbra Penance led the full technical build of Amadoo's platform, owning architecture through to shipped features:
Multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure: Postgres schema with row-level security across 20+ tables, ensuring full data isolation between nurseries.
Role-based permissions system covering admin, manager, practitioner, and parent users across 12 distinct staff positions.
Authentication and secure data access built on least-privilege principles, with security architected in rather than retrofitted.
Core operational features: attendance, certifications, curriculum planning, billing, messaging, and a real-time activity feed.
Cross-platform mobile app in React Native, translating the full web experience into a native iOS and Android product for parents and practitioners on the go.
AI-powered functionality, including Ami, Amadoo's nursery assistant, delivering AI-generated reports and operational support.
Security, designed in
- Each nursery can only ever see its own data: the rule is enforced in the database itself, not only in the application.
- Role-based permissions for admins, managers, practitioners and parents, mapped to 12 distinct staff positions.
- Authentication and data access built on least-privilege principles, in place from the first version of the database.
